The hills are alive with color

by Charles Baughman

I call my paintings splatterscapes. Instead of using paint brushes I use my fingers and sticks and I throw paint at the canvas. This particular image comes from the hills around Pratt Kansas. I’m working from a photo by Gracie then I have fun with color and paint. I have it exhibited at the Vernon Filley Art Museum in Pratt Kansas showing over 25 photo/painting combinations from the area.

Working with local people from around Pratt Kansas. I’ve created a series of paintings from their photographs. The way that I do this is with my fingers and sticks to paint and create a bit of chaos. That I hope captures the essence of the area.
