Lonely Egg

by Samantha Jones

Lonely egg in a culvert pipe,
To whom do you belong?
Will you be a turtle, a friendly snipe,
Or a snake all slithery and long?

Lonely egg on a bed of sticks,
Where will you call home?
Will you choose sun-warmed bricks,
A lake, or those big blue skies to roam?

Lonely egg all tucked away,
I think I know your culture.
You’ll clean the dead and fly high by day,
You will be a vulture!
